1. Harry Potter: A Cinematic Gallery: 80 Original Images to Color and Inspire
Release Date: December 19, 2017
We start off this month’s roundup with a book I know is going to be popular with a lot of fans: the newest Harry Potter coloring book!
This book is a large-format, nearly square book that is 10 by 11 inches. The illustrations are printed on just one side of heavy weight paper. The opposite side of the page is a quote corresponding with the scene across the pagespread. This book takes colorists on a journey through the most memorable scenes from all eight movies.
Perhaps the most striking thing about this book is the gold foiling on each drawing. Gold foil is always a nice touch on a coloring book cover (which this book also includes) but I don’t know that I’ve seen any other books that use gold foil throughout. It makes for a lavish coloring experience!
This coloring book is a must-have for an ultimate fan of the Harry Potter series, particularly the movies! Check out more sample pages and grab your own copy over on Amazon.
2. Creative Haven Happy Hour!: A Wine, Beer, and Cocktails Coloring Book
Release Date: December 13, 2017
Hey, it’s 5 o’clock somewhere, right? This happy hour themed coloring book is a must for appreciators of relaxation time everywhere.
Like many other Creative Haven books, this coloring book includes 31 original illustrations to color, printed on one side of medium weight paper. The pages are perforated for ease of removal for coloring outside the book and display.
Each illustration in this book focuses on a different famous cocktail, from Bloody Mary to Tequila Sunrise to the “Zombie.” The pages include the name of the cocktail, a detailed hand-drawn illustration of the drink, and interesting trivia and facts about the drink surrounding the drawing.
The recipes for each drink are also printed on the back of every page, so you can make your own. You know, to color as a still life.
3. Mermaids Coloring Book: An Aquatic Art Adventure
Release Date: December 8, 2017
I’ve been a fan of Jasmine Becket-Griffith’s brooding beauties ever since I first discovered them while putting together my collection of the best Halloween coloring books for adults. She’s just got such a unique style in her gothic/fantasy paintings that transfers so well to a coloring book format.
This book includes 55 original illustrations to color, traced from Becket-Griffith’s mermaid paintings. They are printed on one side only of heavy, slightly cream-colored paper. The opposite side of the pagespread includes a short paragraph about the original painting upon which the coloring page is based. All images include a black border so you have an endpoint at which to finish your background.
I’m very excited about this new collection and I think it will definitely appeal to the fantasy adult coloring book crowd! If you like the sample images above, there are more you can preview in a review on the Amazon page!
4. Draw Your Own Damn Coloring Book
Release Date: December 4, 2017
Here’s an interesting twist on a coloring book! This book by Jeanette Nyberg invites you not only to color some nice geometric designs, but to create them yourself! Through a variety of projects, the artist introduces you to a new type of geometric design step by step, with tongue-in-cheek directions. She then invites you to create your own version on the blank page opposite. What will you draw?
5. Fantasy Fashion Coloring Book for Adults
Release Date: December 11, 2017
I’ve always had a weakness for fashion coloring books, because what can I say? When the colors are up to you, it is so fun to come up with the perfect color pairings to create a brilliant outfit. This fashion coloring book is devoted to elaborate dresses.
Unfortunately I don’t have too many details about this book, but there are probably between 20 and 30 illustrations in the book, printed on just one side of letter-size paper. This book is printed with CreateSpace, so the paper will be pretty light-weight.
6. Colour My Sketchbook: Treedom
Release Date: December 5, 2017
This is one of the latest coloring books by illustrator Bennett Klein, whose grayscale sketchbook drawings gained a cult following when colorists discovered how fun they were to color. He has since released many books in his signature sketchy style, ready to be interpreted by the colorist.
This book includes 25 grayscale drawings printed on just one side of the page. The book is printed with CreateSpace, so the paper is pretty light weight — just be sure to protect the pages that follow with a few sheets of paper if you’re coloring with marker or another wet medium.
If you love Klein’s work, you’ll be thrilled to discover the vast number of other coloring books he has released. You can see them in the related items on Amazon.
7. Creative Haven Ocean Fantasies Coloring Book
Release Date: December 13, 2017
It seems like a lot of mermaid-themed coloring books have been coming out as of late. Here’s Creative Haven’s latest interpretation on this genre, with beautiful illustrations by Aaron Pocock.
This book includes 31 original illustrations with backgrounds printed on one side only of medium weight paper. The pages are perforated for ease of removal.

8. Mrsuicidesheep’s Concept Art Colouring Book
Release Date: December 1, 2017
MrSuicideSheep is a popular electronic music channel on YouTube that features a variety of hand-picked artists. Along the way, they’ve gathered a lot of fan-created concept art, which inspired this coloring book. While this coloring book will likely be of greatest appeal to Sheepy’s existing fanbase, you have to admit that the artwork is pretty gorgeous!
The book includes 32 unique illustrations to color, printed on just one side of the page. The paper is on the thin side and the creator even specifies that it was designed for colored pencils, so if you do decide to use markers, be sure to protect the pages below by slipping a blotter sheet below the page you are currently working on!
9. Splendid Symmetries: A Coloring Book for Teens & Adults
Release Date: December 15, 2017
Mandala books are a dime a dozen, but it’s not every day you see someone releasing original, hand-drawn mandalas! This collection of mandalas and other beautiful, symmetrical designs was created by Vera Brook. There are 20 original designs, which are each printed a total of 3 times in the book, so you can try each design multiple times. The illustrations are printed on one side only of light weight paper. Check out more sample images on Amazon!
10. Inklings 3 Fantasy Adult Colouring Book
Release Date: December 7, 2017
Tanya Bond is a fantasy illustrator who has released several other adult coloring books of “Inklings.” She’s grown a bit of a following around her unique style of fantasy maidens and their companions, from butterflies to dragons, owls, bats, flamingos, and more.
This book includes 24 original illustrations to color, printed on one side of light weight paper. If the sample images above look appealing to you, be sure to check out more of the previews on Amazon!
