School Teacher Takes the Same Yearbook Photo for 40 Years

 

In 1973, brand new physical education teacher Dale Irby got his photo taken for the school yearbook wearing a gold sweater and button-down shirt.

In 1974, he got his picture taken again, in the same outfit.

It wasn’t until he took the processed photos home with him that he and his wife realized his mistake. He was pretty embarrassed about it, but his wife recognized the humor of the situation – daring him to do it the next year, too.

So he did.

And he never felt like stopping.

Over the entirety of his 40 year career, Mr. Irby wore the same sweater vest and collared shirt on picture day. Even when the items of clothing stopped fitting, he would don them just for the occasion.
