Release Date: February 7, 2017

I was blown away when I saw the illustrations inside this book. Dream Weaver is a sort of coloring storybook that follows a woman’s adventure through her dreams in pursuit of her curious cat. The cat and the dreaming woman can be found in every image.

There is a Japanese vibe throughout the artwork that I really adore, and the illustrator Olivia Whitworth even explains on Amazon that she was “inspired by 19th century Japanese prints and contemporary design.” There are forests, underwater scenes, cities, mountains, hot air balloons, botanical gardens, Japanese kites, and more lovely scenes to explore.

In total there are 94 pages to color, printed in lovely spreads on both sides of the page. The designs run right to the edge of the page and into the binding. The pages are thick enough to withstand water-based markers, India ink pens, and gel pens, but more intense media like watercolor or alcohol-based markers will bleed through to the other side of the page.

Overall, this is the new release I am most excited about in February! If you love the previews above I definitely encourage you to pick up a copy on Amazon.

Release Date: February 14, 2017

This is such a cute book! If you love coloring in fanciful, doodly illustrations with quotes, this is the perfect new release for you.

This book is kind of a combination crafty/DIY how to book and coloring book, because it gives some ideas for using new techniques to color in the images in the book, as well as offering up other suggestions like using them as embroidery patterns or t-shirt transfers.

There are over 50 illustrations to color, printed on just one side of perforated pages. The paper is heavy enough to hold its own, even if you decide to pull out a page and use watercolors, like this Amazon reviewer did:

Release Date: February 7, 2017

This new coloring book by Japanese artist Chiaki Ida is in many ways a little reminiscent of the work of another Japanese illustrator, the Romantic Country books by Eriy. It is also square but a slightly smaller format than those books, about 9 inches square.

This book follows a little girl through the small shops of her hometown, from a beloved bookstore, to a bakery, a florist, dress shop, coffee shop, clockmaker’s shop, and more. The illustrations have a gentle, hand-drawn feel to them. If you loved getting lost in your local used bookstore as a child, like I did, this book will have a lot of nostalgia for you.

There are 68 pages to color printed on both sides of the page. The paper is medium-weight and slightly cream-colored to add to the antique feel of the coloring book. Some of the pagespreads have two separate illustrations, while others are one larger illustration that crosses the binding.

If you like Eriy’s coloring books, or just love coloring scenes full of many little objects, you’ll enjoy this coloring book. You can get a copy right here!

Jade Gedeon is a talented artist whose colorful patina jewelry has been worn by many famous celebrities. She has published several coloring books to date, and this is her newest, inspired by Trinidad’s Carnival. You can see sample pages from the book in the shots above, taken from Jade Gedeon’s Instagram.

The book contains 30 illustrations, printed on both sides of high-quality art paper heavy enough to stand up to watercolors. The binding is a special “lay flat” style that keeps the book open as you work.

Jade Gedeon’s books are great for learning how to use watercolor. If you’ve been looking for an excuse to get yourself some watercolor paints and try them out, don’t wait — go ahead and pick up a copy of this book and some watercolors and go to town!

Time for something really novel: a coloring book that, with a little work, transforms into a folded paper New England town.

This book contains 30 projects. Each project is printed on die-cut cardstock that you can color, punch out, and fold into a whole town of little buildings.

If only I could find a picture of the finished product online — alas, I scoured the internet and could not find a picture of it anywhere. If you get ahold of this and make some of the projects, please send me a picture and I’ll share it!

It’s nowhere near Halloween, but I’m still liking this new book of hand-drawn skull designs by Steve “Squidoodle” Turner. This book contains 30 illustrations to color printed on just one side of fairly thin paper. If you like the preview images above, click here to get your own copy!
