Beautiful Photos! Photographer Captures a World First on Camera

Matthew Vandeputte: World's First Hyperlapse of a Sunset Aboard an Airplane
Written by Adrienne

Last week, Matthew Vandeputte, a photographer based in Sydney, Australia, caught something awesome.

He was getting ready to board a flight back to Sydney when he realized that the timing would be perfect for some sunset photography. Loaded up with extra memory cards and a full battery, he prepared to shoot what he would later realize was the first ever hyperlapse of a sunset from an airplane.

Hyper-what? A hyperlapse is a sped-up version of a time-lapse, built out of still frames that are strung together to show a faster-than-life view of the world zooming by. Or flying by, as the case may be!

Shutter clicking like mad, Vandeputte persisted even despite frustration from his fellow passengers, all in the name of unique photography. And what gorgeous photography it is!

Here is one of the earlier shots of the sun starting to sink:

And here is one of the last frames before the sun disappeared behind the horizon. Beautiful!

Take a look at the video of the full hyperlapse below, and prepare to be amazed!

Make sure to set it to 2160p (4K) to get the full effect – as long as your computer can handle it!

In his post about the footage, Vandeputte explained, “This is why I always choose the windowseat!”

More gorgeous stills, as well as prints available for purchase, can be found on Matthew Vandeputte’s website. Be sure to share this awe-inspiring sunset with your friends!
